M.A.D Gallery in Milan shows “Aeon”
M.A.D Gallery in Milan shows “Aeon”.
Aeon is a “study” about painting and mutation. In an era of speed and and ever faster changes in the delivery of information, Fernando Velázquez invites us to enter his art through a “miniature moving image” powered by silence, a journey through mind fields into painting itself.
The cyclic element of the composition refers to a long period of time represented here as a short breathing space. Velázquez’s recent series “Cave Paintings of our Time” pointed towards both his personal vision as a painter and his quest for universal and timeless images. “Aeon” looks beyond that initial point, becoming an experience, a transitional moment of reflection and lasting resonance.

The Big Picture Vancouver, Canada
This is an ambitious project involving artists from around the world who have created a piece to be part of final painting, expected to be more than six feet in height and 72-feet wide. Once complete, the work may become an artistic version of Google Maps, allowing art appreciators to zoom in on drawings and their stories.
Fernando has contributed to the project with a striking drawing in ink and watercolour. The piece aims to represent all of us, a portrait made out of paint.

New Painting – The Sacred Om Mountain
Om Parvat is the second of a very large format series of 5 that I am working on. Om Parvat, The Sacred Om Mountain … The most fascinating characteristic of this peak is the unbelievable impression of “OM” naturally formed with the deposition of snow against the black background of the mountain. Its appearance is distinctly similar to Mount Kailash in Tibet.
Earth vibrates at 7.83 Hz and so does OM. The primordial vibrations of molecules and atoms are thus represented by OM. Additionally, OM resonates with the Earth’s heartbeat of 7.83 hertz.
The mountain is considered sacred by Hindus and it represents a revered pilgrimage place for many people around the world. They visit to witness the snow deposition pattern which resembles the sacred symbol of ”Om”.
This is the inspiration behind “Om Parvat”, Oil on canvas, 150 x 300 cm, 2018.
